I had suffered for nearly a decade with pain in my knees and hip & finally managed to get a referral from my GP. I had never heard of Spire Hartswood Hospital prior to meeting Mr Masterson but I'm so pleased to have been referred there. From the initial consultation, Mr Masterson confirmed that whilst the knees were bad, the right hip was far worse and needed swift replacement. I was delighted to get the call to attend in January to have the surgery. From the outset, he managed to put my mind at rest with reassuring words and information about the procedure. As an 85 year old, this made me feel much better about what is a major surgery. It's now 6 weeks after the surgery and having had another consultation with Mr Masterson he is extremely happy with my progress. The scar, whilst 7-8 inches long is almost invisible and I'll soon be walking without the aid of crutches (the last 4 weeks I've been down to 1 crutch). Throughout every meeting with Mr Masterson, he (& indeed the whole team at the hospital) has shown a level of expertise & professionalism that is just 1st class. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Masterson to anyone who has hip or knees issues & requires surgery. I look forward to receiving a "call" in the near future regarding knee surgery !

I regard myself as extremely fortunate in having my knee replacement surgery carried out by Mr. Masterson. I was discharged from his care yesterday, six months after my operation. I have full flexibility in the joint and I am totally pain free. at every stage of the process Mr. Masterson explained all the procedures in a clear,professional manner. He was unfailingly pleasant and good natured and instilled a degree of self confidence which undoubtedly assisted me in making a swift recovery.

From the time I first saw Mr Masterson until my discharge on 23-02-2022, he has given first class care. My knee replacement went better than I had hoped for and at every turn if I had a question or a concern he was there to answer it. His bedside manner is exemplary and his skill as a surgeon is second to none. I have had both knees replaced and it is very difficult to see the scar on either knee and I know have more mobility than I have had for nearly two decades. Thank you so much.

I had suffered from progressively worsening problems with both my right and left knee joints for well over five years. My GP requested x-rays which she reviewed and concluded that I was suffering from arthritis for which she could only offer physiotherapy and possibly injections. This didn’t seem to be a satisfactory solution so I asked to be referred to Mr Sean Masterson at the Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood. My initial consultation gave me great hope and confidence that something far more positive could be achieved with full knee replacements. I found Sean Masterson to be extremely competent with a friendly disposition. I have now had both knees replaced, one in April 2021 and the other in August of the same year. I can walk well without pain and no longer waddle as my husband used to point out. I have now been fully discharged just one year from my initial consultation. I am more than happy to recommend Sean Masterson, as indeed I have done, to friends who have been suffering similar problems.
